Information on the celebration of 17 centuries of the proclamation of the Edict of Milan in the Republic of Serbia

"The Edict of Milan 313–2013, Serbia" Project is a national programme of marking the Jubilee Year – 17 centuries of the proclamation of the Edict of Milan, a legal document which put a historical end to the three centuries-long persecution of Christians and ensured “the authority of every person to profess the religion that he or she preferred”.

The Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Organizing Committee for the Event co-chaired by the President of the Republic of Serbia, His Excellency Mr Tomislav Nikolić, and His Holiness the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Mr Irinej have decided that this Jubilee Year be observed by a number of events and celebrations. The calendar of celebrations, historical background of events related to the proclamation of the Edict of Milan, Constantine the Great, and Nis, his birthplace, are available on the web-page www.edictofmilan2013.com in both Serbian and English languages.
